OpenAI says ChatGPT can now connect to iCloud Mail and Calendar, according to its release notes dated October 27, 2026. Yahoo Tech reports that ChatGPT's own X account announced the plugins the same day, and @testingcatalog flagged the launch that evening.

What the plugins do

The Mail plugin can search messages from specific people, summarize recent conversations, draft replies and send email. The Calendar plugin can view schedules and create, read or update events. Both can look up contacts, and the release notes describe the iCloud connection as covering finding emails, checking the inbox and scheduling.

Mail and Calendar are separate plugins, so you can connect one without the other.

Who can get it

The release notes place the plugins on all ChatGPT plans, including Free, across the web app, the desktop app and iOS, starting October 27. Unlike the Mac-only Apple Messages plugin that came before, the iCloud connections also work on the web and on iOS, according to iClarified.

Pro subscribers can also use the plugins through OpenAI's Dot agent, which 9to5Mac says is compatible with these plugins for the first time. Codex CLI lists icloud-mail and icloud-calendar in its curated plugin marketplace, so they can be installed there too, per Nerdschalk.

Rollout is staggered worldwide, so not every user will see the plugins on the same day, according to BigGo Finance.

Setup and limits

  • App-specific password: each connection needs an Apple app-specific password generated in Apple account security settings. Two-factor authentication must already be on, and your regular Apple Account password is not used, per Digital Trends.

  • Address rules: the Mail plugin accepts only addresses ending in icloud.com, me.com or mac.com. The Calendar plugin uses your primary Apple Account email, which can be a different address.

  • Other accounts: Gmail or Outlook accounts added to the iPhone Mail app are not reached by the iCloud connection and need their own connection.

  • Not included: standalone Contacts and Reminders plugins are not part of this launch, per Yahoo Tech.

  • Managed accounts: coverage says organization-managed accounts may be restricted, and in managed workspaces administrators decide which plugins team members can use.

Our read: the app-specific password step and the address rules are the first things to check before you rely on it.
