Anthropic's announcement on X says the new Claude for Legal Artifacts gallery holds ready-made tools for contract review, regulatory horizon scans, cite checks and more. Users start from a built-in example, add their own documents and connectors, and share the result with colleagues across the business. Legal IT Insider reports the launch took place on 28 October 2026.
What the gallery contains
Artifacts are interactive tools, such as trackers or dashboards, that people build in Claude and keep using over time. Each legal Artifact targets a specific task. The examples reported so far include:
Tabular contract review: answers questions across a set of contracts and shows the supporting quote and page for each answer.
Cite check: compares a legal document with its sources and flags quotes that do not match, wrong page numbers, and sources that do not support the claim, according to Artificial Lawyer.
Regulatory horizon scan: maps upcoming regulations on a timeline based on a company's business and locations, ranking them by impact with links to sources.
Playbook deviation board: compares contracts against a company's standard terms, flags differing clauses and routes them to the person who approves exceptions.
The gallery also includes a Matter board and a Jurisdiction survey matrix. Artifacts built with partners include AI Governance Benchmark by Goodwin, Harvey Intake by Harvey, Subpoena Response Tool by PwC and Obligations Checker by Foley & Lardner.
Sharing and access to justice
Artifacts can be shared within or outside an organisation. Anthropic says the sharing settings support privacy and ethical walls between teams.
Anthropic is also launching a program that gives law schools and public interest groups, including legal aid organisations, access to Claude for building Artifacts for access-to-justice work. The reported counts differ. PANews and Phemex put the access-to-justice tools at nine, five of them developed by nonprofits funded through Claude credit grants. Legal IT Insider counts 12, five built by nonprofit and public interest organisations supported with Claude credits, and names Zealous, Mobile Pathways, Rising for Justice and The Access Project.
Artificial Lawyer also reports that the Legal Ambassadors Program for builders has a wait list. Phemex adds that more than 60 legal connectors have been added since Claude for Legal launched in May.
Our read
Head of Claude for Legal Robert Mahari says the release aims to give lawyers who find blank chat interfaces overwhelming something useful out of the box that they can still customise. Artificial Lawyer judges the Artifacts not a major deal, since a skilled legal engineer could already have built most of them with Anthropic's existing tools.
