OpenAI says it has doubled usage limits for its Pro 100, Pro 200 and Pro 500 tiers and Business Premium, effective today, in a post by Tibo (@thsottiaux). The post is labelled Day 25 of a series. It also says Pro 200 usage limits will not be reduced, so Work and Codex usage stays the same for that tier.
What changes
Doubled limits: usage limits are doubled for Pro 100, Pro 200, Pro 500 and Business Premium, effective October 29, 2026.
Pro 200 stays the same: the post says Pro 200 limits will not be reduced, so Work and Codex usage does not change for those subscribers.
Dots limits continue: extended limits for dots continue for now, and dot usage remains separate from default usage.
The post also says OpenAI will keep shipping better models and other efficiency improvements, which it expects to raise effective usage over time.
The reduction reported before this post
Before the post, reports described a planned cut. A 36Kr report said the Codex and ChatGPT Work quota was to fall from 20 times Plus to 10 times starting the next day, and that the weekly GPT-6 Pro message limit would be halved. A developer forum post quotes a September 30 OpenAI email saying existing Pro 200 subscribers would keep the 20x Plus Codex and Work allowance through October 29, with the reduction to 10x starting October 30. A trending page reports that existing Pro $200 subscribers were given a one-time 62,500 credits, about $2,500, as compensation ahead of the cut.
Today's post says Pro 200 limits will not be reduced, which replaces the October 30 change those reports described.
Pricing context
A Codex pricing guide lists Business Premium seats at $100 per user per month billed annually or $125 billed monthly. The same guide says those seats get five times Standard usage and no five-hour limit.
Our read: for Pro subscribers, the practical change is that the cut reported for October 30 is no longer the plan for Pro 200. For earlier context on Codex allowances, see our report on the October 16 plan-change error.
