Two unnamed image models, "shooting-star-green-alpha" and "shooting-star-red-alpha", appeared in Arena Scout bot alerts on October 23, 2026. @abhinavflac says they are new GPT Image models being tested under stealth names, but the alerts themselves list the maker as unknown. Nothing in the screenshots ties them to OpenAI, and OpenAI's model catalog has no entry with the shooting-star name.

What the screenshots show
Both screenshots are Arena Scout alerts headed "New Model Found". Each lists Organization and Provider as "unknown" and shows the same modality tags: "in:image", "in:text" and "out:image". The bot credits "Journey To AGI" and "Developed by Synopsis on X".
Model ID | First seen (per alert) |

The alerts establish that two image-generation models with these IDs were detected, nothing more. The "GPT Image" attribution is the poster's own. The poster adds "Not so accurate tbh" and says test results are in a comment; no performance data appears in the post itself.
What OpenAI currently lists
OpenAI's All models page has an Image group with three entries: GPT-Image-2.5 Sunburst ("Our most capable model for image generation and editing"), GPT-Image-2.5 Flare ("Fast, high-quality everyday image generation") and GPT-Image-2 ("State-of-the-art image generation model"). The same page marks GPT-Image-1.5, GPT-Image-1 Mini and GPT-Image-1 as deprecated.
So OpenAI's listed image line is already at 2.5. Our read: that is context, not a mapping.
For readers following image-model launches, this is a sighting to watch rather than a launch. Related coverage of another image-model arrival: Canva's first image model.
