X Enables Users to Prevent Elon Musk’s Grok AI from Training on Their Posts

Elon Musk’s social media platform X has introduced a new feature allowing users to opt out of having their posts and interactions used to train X.com’s artificial intelligence chatbot, AI Grok.
By default, X users’ data is available for the chatbot’s training purposes. However, X.com announced in a post on Friday that “all X users have the ability to control whether their public posts can be used to train Grok, the AI search assistant.” This new setting is currently accessible via the web platform and will soon be available on mobile devices.
In addition to this setting, users can further protect their data by making their accounts private, preventing their information from being used by the chatbot.
Grok, an AI chatbot offered to premium subscribers on X, was launched last November as a competitor to OpenAI’s ChatGPT. The chatbot is a product of xAI, an artificial intelligence startup also owned by Musk, and has been trained using data from X.
Musk has openly discussed his intention to use X data for Grok’s training. The AI chatbot leverages X posts to provide summaries of news events and respond to queries with real-time information.
