Claude is offering eligible Pro, Max, and Team users a temporary 50% reduction in usage counted toward the five-hour session limit when they create or edit a design in Claude or qualifying cloud Cowork tasks. The promotion runs from October 1 through October 15, 2026, and applies automatically.

This article focuses on design work. Anthropic’s Help Center also lists documents and presentations as eligible artifacts, but the discount is not a general reduction across Claude.

How the design discount works in Claude

To start a design task, open a new Claude chat and choose Document, Presentation, or Design from the Output menu. The discount then applies from the first message in that chat.

If you begin in a regular chat and later ask Claude to create or edit a design, the message where Claude first creates the design counts at the standard rate. The next 10 messages in that chat can then use 50% less of the five-hour session limit. After those messages, the standard rate applies until Claude creates or edits another design.

Claude may also complete one reply through multiple steps, such as searching, using a tool, or updating a design. Only the first 15 steps of each reply can receive the discount; additional steps count at the standard rate.

Creating or editing another design restarts the applicable discounted window. The promotion therefore does not make every message in a design conversation half-rate.

Design work in cloud Cowork

The promotion also applies to cloud Cowork tasks, including tasks moved into a Workspace. It does not apply to Cowork tasks that run locally in Claude Desktop.

Start a new cloud Cowork task by choosing Document, Presentation, or Design. The first roughly 45 minutes of that task can receive the discount.

In another qualifying cloud Cowork task, the discount can cover up to the next 80 steps after Claude creates or edits a design. Those steps can include running a search, using a tool, or updating the design. Creating or editing another design restarts the discounted sequence.

These rules differ from Claude chats: chats use a 10-message window and a 15-step limit within each reply, while Cowork uses a time- or step-based window depending on how the task begins.

Where the design discount applies

The promotion applies to designs created or edited in Claude on the web, desktop, or mobile, as well as qualifying cloud Cowork tasks. In Claude, choose Design from the Output menu to start a design task.

It does not apply to design work in the standalone Claude Design app, including projects published as artifacts from that app. It also excludes:

  • Claude Code

  • The Claude API

  • Claude in Slack

  • Local Cowork tasks running on desktop

  • Scheduled or unattended tasks

  • Artifacts made with the earlier version of artifacts

  • Google Docs, Sheets, or Slides made through the Google Drive connector

What the 50% reduction changes

The promotion reduces how much qualifying design work counts toward the five-hour session limit. It does not reduce the weekly usage limit and does not require a setting, code, or signup. The offer is available automatically to Pro, Max, and Team users; Free and Enterprise plans are excluded.

It also does not reduce usage-credit charges. When usage credits let a paid-plan user continue after reaching an included limit, that additional usage is billed at standard API pricing according to Claude Help Center guidance on usage credits.

For the best chance of using the discounted window from the beginning, start a new Claude chat or cloud Cowork task with the Design option rather than introducing the design partway through an existing chat.

The promotion is available from October 1, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. PT through October 15, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. PT. Anthropic says the offer has no cash value, is not transferable, and may be changed or ended early under the artifact usage promotion terms.
