GPT-6.1 Terra appears as a judge_model value in a config screenshot shared by @LuminaBench, who says Microsoft moved 18 evaluation configs from GPT-5.6 Terra to GPT-6.1 Terra. Neither OpenAI's model list nor Microsoft's Foundry catalog lists a GPT-6.1 Terra model at the time of writing.

The screenshot shows a YAML evaluation config with model set to gpt-6.1-sol and judge_model set to gpt-6.1-terra, with the Terra string highlighted. The poster adds that they "wouldn't be surprised" if the model arrives soon.

The technical receipt

Here is every line of the config:

runs: ${RUNS=5}
model: ${MODEL=gpt-6.1-sol}
judge_model: ${JUDGE_MODEL=gpt-6.1-terra}
judge_reasoning_effort: ${JUDGE_REASONING_EFFORT=medium}
judge_timeout: ${JUDGE_TIMEOUT=10m}
executor: copilot-sdk

The setup pairs a candidate model (gpt-6.1-sol) with a separate judge model (gpt-6.1-terra) set to medium reasoning effort and a 10-minute timeout. The executor is copilot-sdk. Five of the settings are written in a ${NAME=default} form.

What the official listings show

Microsoft's Foundry Models sold by Azure page lists a GPT-6.1 series containing only gpt-6.1-sol, with a 1,050,000-token context window and 128,000 max output tokens. It lists gpt-5.6-terra under the GPT-5.6 series, with the same context window and output limit. OpenAI's all-models page describes GPT-6.1 Sol as "near-Astra performance for complex work at a lower cost" and lists GPT-5.6 Terra as a model that "balances intelligence and cost". It has no GPT-6.1 Terra entry.

The 6.1 generation exists in official listings as Sol alone, while Terra exists only at 5.6. Our read: a config line naming gpt-6.1-terra is consistent with a planned or internal model, but it could equally be a placeholder or an internal alias, and the config does not say it is headed for release.
